Ph.D. Course Outline and Admission Test
1. Ph.D course work as per new Ph.D regulations 2009 shall begin in August 2010.
2. i.The Ph.D. entrance test will be held on the 29th of March from 11.30 am to 1 pm. The Viva will be held on the 12th of April 12.00noon.
ii. Last date of submission of completed form is 12th March in the office of the department of Sociology by 3.00pm
iii. The entrance test will be of 80 marks and 20 marks Viva. The candidate has to write two essays of 40 marks each. Questions will be set on the basis of MA syllabus of Calcutta University. The qualifying mark for the test will be 40 marks i.e. 50%.
iv. List of Candidates selected for the Ph.D. programme will be published on 19th April after 12.00noon.
v. The students who have cleared UGC /CSIR (JRF) Examinations/ NET/SET/SLET/GATE/Teacher Fellowship or have passed equivalent
examinations or passed the M.Phil./M.Tech/M.D/M.e/M.Pharm or equivalent examination shall not be required to appear at the Ph.D. entrance test as per Ph.D new regulations 2009.
3. The number of seats that will be available in the department for Ph.D. is twenty (20) for this year.
