Eligibility for Admission
For Ph.D. Programme
A Master’s Degree in the discipline/related discipline from the Faculty concerned of the Kerala Agricultural University or a qualification recognised as equivalent thereto with an OGPA of 7.8/10.00 or 2.75/4.00 or an aggregate of 60% marks in the traditional system. In the case of SC/ST candidates an OGPA of 7.5/10.00 or 2.50/4.00 or an aggregate of 50% marks in the traditional system is the minimum requirement.
Master’s Degree Programme
A basic degree from the Faculty concerned or qualification recognised by Kerala Agricultural University as equivalent thereto with an OGPA of 7.3/10.00 or 2.25/4.00 or an aggregate of 52.8% marks in the traditional system. In the case of SC/ST candidates an OGPA of 7.00/10.00 or 2.00/4.00 or an aggregate of 50% marks in the traditional system is the minimum requirement. B.Sc. (Ag.) and B.Sc. (Hort.) will be treated as equal for admission purpose. Three years B.Sc. (Ag.) students of other Universities and traditional Universities are not eligible for admission.
a. For M.Sc. (Ag.) & M.Sc. (Hort.) - A basic degree in Agriculture/Horticulture from the concerned faculty or a qualification recognised by Kerala Agricultural University.
b. For M.Sc. (Ag. Stat.) - Any basic degree awarded by Agriculture/Veterinary and Animal Sciences/ Fishery/ Agricultural Engineering faculties or B.Sc. in Mathematics or Statistics.
c. For M.Sc. Programme in Home Science - Any degree of Kerala Agricultural University/Basic degree in Home Science or Family and Community Science awarded by the Universities in Kerala.
d. For M.Sc. Co-operation & Banking - Any degree of the Kerala Agricultural University.
e. For M.Sc. Forestry - Basic degree in Forestry/Agriculture/Horticulture/B.V.Sc. & A.H. or degree with higher grade certificate from Ranger’s College or with Diploma in Forestry from State Forest College/Indian Forest Research Institute, Dehra Dun.
f. For M.Tech. (Agri.Engg) - Graduate in Agricultural Engineering. Selection to the Master’s Degree Programme will be made on the basis of Entrance Examination.
IV. Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
a. Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Animal Reproduction, Veterinary Physiology, Poultry Science, Anatomy, Veterinary Public Health, Animal Breeding & Genetics, Livestock Production Management, Clinical Medicine, Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology, Preventive Medicine, Veterinary surgery, Parasitology, Dairy Science and Animal Nutrition.
b. M.V.Sc. Programme has been separated into 2 streams, viz. Veterinary Science and Animal Sciences. The disciplines in the above streams are as follows:
Stream-A Veterinary Science consists of Animal Reproduction, Clinical Medicine, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Surgery, Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
Stream-B Animal Sciences consists of Anatomy, Animal Breeding and Genetics, Livestock Production Management, Veterinary Physiology, Poultry Science, Extension, Livestock Products Technology and Biochemistry
Eligibility for Admission
For Ph.D. Programme
Master’s Degree in the discipline from the Faculty concerned of the KAU or a qualification recognised as equivalent thereto with an OGPA of 7.8/10.00 or 2.75/4.00 or an aggregate of 60% marks in the traditional system. In the case of SC/ST candidates the minimum requirement is an OGPA of 7.5/10.00, 2.5/4.00 or 50% marks in the traditional system.
For Master’s Degree Programme
A basic degree in Veterinary and Animal Science with an aggregate of at least 52.8% marks in the traditional system or an OGPA of 2.25/4.00, 7.3/10.0, 5.7/10.0 in the trimester, semester and VCI systems respectively or a qualification recognised as equivalent by the KAU. In the case of SC/ST candidates 50% marks or an OGPA of 2.0/4.00, 7.0/10.00, 5.0/10.00 respectively.
How to apply : Application forms and prospectus for admission to the above PG programme are available in the KAU official website www.kau.edu in adobe acrobat PDF format. This downloaded application in A4 size paper can be used. The filled in application form may be submitted along with the application fee. The application fees are Rs.750/- for Master’s Degree Course except Veterinary Faculty and Rs.1000/- for Ph.D. course. Fee for SC/ST of Kerala origin is Rs.375/- and Rs.500/- respectively. For Master’s Degree Programme in Veterinary Faculty application fee for a stream is Rs.750/-. Fee for SC/ST of Kerala origin is Rs.375/-. Fee may be paid through a D.D. drawn in favour of the Comptroller, KAU payable at SBT, KAU Branch, Vellanikkara. Any other mode of payment will not be accepted and payment once made will not be refunded under any circumstances.
NOTE: A common entrance test will be conducted for all the disciplines under a faculty and admission will be made to all the disciplines in a faculty on the basis of the rank obtained in the entrance examination. However separate test will be conducted for M.Sc.(Ag.Stat)/M.Sc. Home Science/ M.Sc.(C&B) and M.Sc.(Forestry) of Agriculture Faculty. Separate examination will not be conducted for Stream A and Stream B of Veterinary Faculty. The option once exercised will be final and subsequent changes in the option will not be entertained. The discipline will be allotted to the applicant according to his/her choice and seniority in the rank list. The filled in application should reach the Registrar, Kerala Agricultural University, KAU-Post, Thrissur-680 656 before 5.00 P.M. on 30/06/2009 Incomplete, defective and late applications will not be accepted.
