Republic Day Celebrations at P.U. Campus
Greetings, Guard of Honour, Patriotic Songs, dances, thematical programmes creating social awareness, distribution of sweets and snacks formed part of Republic Day celebrations at Panjab University Campus here today. Prof. R.C. Sobti, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University hoisted the national flag. The University felicitated the Vice-Chancellor on conferment of Padma Shri and also for his contribution to boosting ecological awareness. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sobti cautioned against complacence and to ensure a growth process to make our nation even more socially inclusive and regionally balanced. He called for result oriented actions, endeavour to become formidable force of transformation and to inculcate a sense of responsibility and positive attitude. The priority in research should be to find meaningful solutions to chronic and crippling problems plaguing our society. Prof. Sobti emphasized the need to take higher education to the doorstep of people and shared that the University had recently set up a Regional Centre at Nathuwala in a rural area in Dist. Moga of Punjab. The University should aim at producing men and women of integrity and character. Prof. Sobti also motivated the gathering to take oath to make the University Campus academically and socially vibrant, free from pollution, garbage and violence. He exhorted the gathering to work for making Campus more and more green and one of the best Campuses in the country. Prof. Sobti prayed speedy recovery of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. The celebrations also witnessed appreciation and awards to those who had done commendable work. Those who were honoured for their commitment, sincerity and alacrity included:- 1. Sh.
