INTRODUCTION
It may be hard to imagine a world in the current scenario where infrastructural development keeps pace with population growth and urbanization, providing secure, affordable and reliable shelter and transportation system to all its inhabitants. Like wise, other issues such as waste management, impending dangers of natural hazards like landslides, slope stability etc. are also burning issues. The field of Geotechnical Engineering is at cross roads where path to high-tech solutions are required to meet the challenges posed in the 21st century. The Indian Geotechnical Society, Chandigarh Chapter is privileged to host a national seminar on ‘GEOTECHNOLOGY FOR INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT’ as part of Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Indian Geotechnical Society along with Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.
