The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is a centrally funded Deemed University that works towards creating a people-centred, ecologically sustainable and just society. Eligibility: A Bachelor’s Degree of a minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a recognised University, in any discipline.
Notes: Candidates pursuing and completing their final year degree exams by June 20, 2009 [except M.A. in Education (Elementary)] are also eligible to apply, provided they have no backlog in the previous years exams at the time of submission of application. For M.A. in Education (Elementary) the date for completion of requirements is May 16, 2009. However, for programmes Sr. Nos. 7, 8 & 9 only candidates having completed graduation can apply. Medical graduates doing their internship should complete it by June 20, 2009.
Test Centres: Ahmedabad, Bangaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Port Blair, Pune, Ranchi and Srinagar. The Institute reserves the right to change or cancel any test centre at its discretion. The Institute has the right to assign a particular centre to candidates applying for multiple programmes.
APPLICATION FORMS AND INFORMATION BROCHURE:
Candidates can apply for not more than THREE programmes. The Application Form and Information Brochure can be obtained :
(1) Online
(2) by downloading it from our website, i.e. www.tiss.edu
(3) by sending a request letter with DD for Rs. 1000/- if applied for a single programme and for multiple programmes, Rs. 750/- per additional programme. The DD should be drawn in favour of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, payable at Mumbai, and also
(4) by collecting it from Cash Counter (Accounts Section) of TISS between 10am. and 3 pm. on Cash payment.
Unemployed SC/ST candidates whose parents’ income not exceeding Rs. One Lakh during 2007-08 can get the application free of cost through any one of the above four means by submitting copies of Caste & Income Certificates.
Deputed Candidates: Officers deputed by the Central and State Governments and autonomous organisations for studying any of the above programmes will have to submit their applications through proper channel and they will have to appear for test and interview along with other candidates. Officials/teachers and Resource Persons applying for the M.A. in Education (Elementary) Programme will be selected through a suitable screening process comprising documentary evidence of interest and motivation for the programme or an interview.
Reservations : Government of India norms will be applicable for admission of SC /ST /OBC / PWD (Persons with Disability). Only a limited number of hostel seats and scholarships are available.
