One-Year Post Graduate Programme in Public Management and Policy (PGP-PMP)
PGP-PMP is a full-time residential programme in public management and policy with a sharp focus on governance and policy formulation and implementation, infrastructure development, and public enterprise management. A rigorous programme, it has been designed to sharpen the skills and broaden the perspectives of civil servants; managers of government, public enterprises, NGOs; and executives of private sector firms engaged in public management. The programme is open to bright and motivated mid-career managers as well as administrators/ professionals of NGOs and people with legislative experience of all nationalities who intend taking up challenging top management positions in governance, public management and policy. Candidates from Asia and Africa are especially invited to apply. The programme has strong foundations in the conceptual and analytical dimensions of management and policy, and the curriculum is also designed to build on the experience of participants.
The programme builds upon the excellence of IIMA in management teaching and research and its considerable experience in policy research and consultancy to take management to the domains of public policy, services provision and regulation, and management of public organizations and enterprises.
How to Apply
Admission Procedure
Application form for the third programme (2009-10) which begins on April 1, 2009 is available online. The deadline for receipt of applications is November 3, 2008 with GMAT (www.mba.com)/GRE (www.ets.org) score obtained between April 1, 2006 and November 3, 2008 or CAT score from any of the last three CATs. To ensure that GMAT scores are sent directly to IIMA, please enter IIMA PGP-PMP Code: CQQ-RR:62. Candidates without GMAT/GRE/CAT may also apply but they will be short-listed on the basis of application rating for a specially designed test of IIMA to be conducted simultaneously at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, and Kolkatta. All short-listed candidates are expected to spend a day at IIMA where they would meet with the faculty and attend an interview. The admission process will be completed by January 5, 2009. Selected candidates are expected to make their own arrangements for obtaining leave, etc. from their organizations.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline and should have at least seven years of work experience by March 2009 in a supervisory / managerial / administrative position. Candidates with legislative experience are also eligible to apply provided they are (i) 27 or more years old, and (ii) have one year or more of experience as a minister at the central level or as a member of parliament or 2 years or more of experience as minister at the state level or as member of the legislative assembly / council; or have served for 5 years or more as councillor of municipal corporation or of jilla parishad. All candidates would have to have bachelor’s degree without exception. All candidates should have a GMAT/GRE score obtained between April 1, 2006 and November 3, 2008 or CAT score from any of the last three CATs. Those without GMAT/GRE/CAT will be short-listed on the basis of application rating for a specially designed test of IIMA to be conducted simultaneously at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, and Kolkatta.
Selection of candidates for interviews and final selection for admission will be based on multiple criteria and not on any particular parameter. It is possible that candidates with higher test scores than those who are selected may not have been short-listed for interviews or offered admission.
