Prospectus for Post-Graduate Admission, 2008-09
Applications are invited in prescribed forms from the candidates desirous for admission to Post-Graduate Programme in Agriculture (including M. Tech. in Agril. Engineering), Veterinary Science & A.H. and Biotechnology of Birsa Agricultural University as detailed below for the Session 2008-09.

C. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
(a) Minimum overall grade point average (O.G.P.A.) 6.00/10.00 or 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent percentage of marks at Master’s degree level. A candidate can apply for Doctoral Programme only in the major subject of study at Master’s level.
(b) Merit list will be prepared in 10 point scale on the basis of OGPA (Overall Grade Point Average) earned by the candidate at Master’s degree level.
(c) The requirement of percentage of marks may be relaxed to the extent of 5% for such candidates who have published original research papers in standard scientific journals.
(d) Candidates appearing in final year exams can also apply but he/she must submit required certificates at the time of counseling followed by admission.

D. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
i) Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (4 years course), Vety. Science & Animal Husbandry (5 years course) for admission to M.Sc. (Ag.), M.V.Sc. Programmes, respectively. However, for M.Tech. in Agril. Engineering with specialization in Farm Power & Machinery, Post Harvest Processing & Food Engineering and Soil & Water Engineering, Bachelor’s degree in Ag. Engg./ Mechanical Engg., Ag. Engg./ Chemical Engg. And Ag. Engg./Civil Eggg., respectively, is required.
ii) Minimum overall grade point average (O.G.P.A) and Subject Grade Point Average( S.G.P.A.) 6.00/10.00 or 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent percentage of marks in aggregate at Bachelor’s Degree level for General and OBC candidates and for SC/ST candidates 5.50/10.00 O.G.P.A. /S.G.P.A or equivalent percentage of marks is required.
iii) The merit list will be prepared on the basis of S.G.P.A. (Subject Grade Point Average) obtained by the candidate in the subject in which he/she desires to seek admission. Subject means both core and elective courses studied by the candidate in that particular subject. The merit list will be prepared in 10 point scale.
iv) For admission in Biotechnology from Agriculture / Veterinary Science / Forestry stream, only O.G.P.A. will be considered. However, for Biotechnology (Hons.) graduates percentage of marks in Biotechnology component only at graduation level will be considered for admission in Master’s Programme in Biotechnology.
v) Candidates appearing in final year exams can also apply but he/she must submit required certificates at the time of counseling which will follow admission.

III. Reservation of seats will be in accordance with the Jharkhand Govt. Policy and will be followed in alphabetical cyclic orders of the P.G. Department in Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences & A.H. and Bio-technology. The details of seats are given at Annexure I.
IV. The S.G.P.A. (subject grade point average) from different grading system will be converted into 10 point scale.
V. The candidates who have graduated in Agril. / Vety. Sci. & A.H./ Forestry from SAUs / CAUs / Deemed Agril. / Vety. University / Institutions recognized by ICAR shall be considered for admission.
VI. The application forms and prospectus can be obtained from 11.08.2008 to 12.09.2008 in person during office hours and up to 07.09.2008 by Registered post from the office of the Registrar, Birsa Agricultural University, Kanke, Ranchi – 834006 on payment through Bank Draft from any Nationalized Bank, payable to Comptroller, Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi – 834006. Cost of application form (1) For General/ O.B.C. candidate Rs. 400.00 (2) For ST/SC candidate Rs. 100.00 (cost of application form paid in any other form will not be accepted.)
VII. Application forms complete in all respect along with the following documents should be submitted on or before 12.09.2008 to the Office of Registrar, Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi – 834006.
VIII. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
1. Processing Fee of Rs. 100/- only in the form of Bank Draft, payable to the Comptroller, Birsa Agricultural University, Kanke. Ranchi – 834006.
2. Self Addressed and Stamped (Rs. 25/-) envelope 23 x 10 cms.
3. Attested Xerox copies of
i. Transcript / Marks sheets of all examinations.
ii. Character certificate from Head of the Institution last attended.
iii. Residential Certificate as per clause E.
iv. The candidate claiming admission under reserved category must attach a certificate to this effect from the authorities as specified in the application form.
v. Any other relevant document.
