Panjab University Introduces a New Course, Microbial Biotechnology.
Panjab University is starting a highly specialized two years course, M.Sc. Microbial Biotechnology, from the coming academic session (2008-09). This course is being introduced under the aegis of Emerging Area in Sciences.
(1) Panjab University is starting a highly specialized two years course, M.Sc. Microbial Biotechnology, from the coming academic session (2008-09). This course is being introduced under the aegis of Emerging Area in Sciences.
(2) This course is first of its kind in North India.
(3) An Advisory Board comprising of
a) distinguished faculty members of Panjab University,
b) internationally recognized scientists of research institutes of India,
c) officials of funding agencies (DBT & CSIR) and
d) senior administrators of corporate sector has been constituted to monitor the functioning and framing rules and regulations of this course.
(4) The course contents have been designed by the senior faculty members and scientists in consultation with Microbiology related industries.
(5) The major emphasis of the course will be to impart state of art practical training to the students.
(6) This course has 20 (open + reserved) seats and admission forms are available from the SBI branch located in the Administrative building of the university.
(7) The course comprises 4 semesters. First 3 semesters include Theory & Practicals covering all aspects of Microbial Biotechnology. The 4th Semester is dedicated for independent research only.
(8) The tuition fee is Rs. 20,000/- per semester + lab. Charges Rs. 15000/- per semester + other University charges which will be around Rs. 4000/- to 5000/-.
(9) Minimum qualification: B.Sc. in any field of Biological Sciences with Microbiology as one of the subjects/papers. Minimum eligibility percentage is 50%.
(10) The admission will be on merit basis.
(11) The last date for the submission of forms is July 1st, 2008.
(12) Only those candidates who have studied the subject of Microbiology during their graduation programme are eligible.
