M.Phil Degree course in Botany
Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for admission to M.Phil Degree course in Botany during the academic year (2008-2009) at Yuvaraja’s College, Mysore-570 005, Karnataka, India.
Yuvaraja’s college is the only Constituent Science College of the prestigious university of Mysore, which is said to be the academic capital of Karnataka and is the first among the constituent colleges to attain autonomous status.
The college has an excellent infrastructure and well qualified teachers to offer higher education. The faculty has undertaken 15 research projects in various branches. Prof. J. Shashidhara Prasad, the then Vice-Chancellor, university of Mysore, Mysore, has taken keen interest in the progress of this institution and is responsible for introducing the PG Courses in Chemistry, 5 year Integrated M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and M.Phil in Botany.
M.Phil course in Botany is being started for the first time in the whole of Mysore University is a post M.Sc. Programme, having lot of scope. Students with this degree are eligible for lecturership. They also get an exposure to the advanced techniques of biological science in general and Botany in particular.
Eligibility: Candidates who have obtained at least 55% of marks at the Masters Degree examination in Botany/Applied Botany from the University of Mysore or any other recognized University/ Institution shall be eligible for admission to the M.Phil Degree Course. However, there shall be a relaxation of 5% of marks in the case of candidates belonging to scheduled caste and scheduled tribe.
Admission Procedure: Application form may be obtained in person from the Principal on payment of Rs. 120/- or through post by sending a demand draft for Rs. 200/-.
