ON-LINE TRAINING ON DISASTER MANAGEMENT
National Institute of Disaster Management, New Delhi and The World Bank Institute, Washington are offering the following On-line Training Courses during 2009-10
Basic Course: (Duration: Six Weeks)
Comprehensive Natural Disaster Risk Management Framework
First Course - April 6 – 17 May, 2009
Second Course - 29 June – 9 August, 2009
Third Course - 21 Sept. – 1 November, 09
Fourth Course - 14 December – 24 January, 2010
Specialized Courses: (Duration: Four Weeks each)
1. Community Based Disaster Risk Management
First Course: 6 April – 3 May 2009
Second Course: 4 January – 31 January 2010
2. Safer Cities
First Course: 4 May – 31 May 2009
Second Course: 1 February – 28 February 2010
3. Financial Strategies for Managing Economic Impacts of Disasters
18 May – 14 June 2009
4. Damage & Reconstruction Needs Assessment
10 August – 6 September 2009
5. Climate Change & Disaster Management
First Course: 14 September – 11 October 2009
Second Course: 1 March – 28 March 2010
6. Earthquake Risk Mitigation
First Course: 9 November – 6 December 2009
Second Course: 15 February - 14 March 2010
7. Land Use Planning
7 December 2009 – 3 January 2010
Methodology: Course materials shall be provided in CD and shall also be available On Line. Experts of NIDM and WBI shall conduct the Courses which will consist of on line discussion, knowledge sharing, assignments and end of course projects. Certificates shall be awarded to successful participants.
Eligibility: Basic Course is open to anyone interested to know about disaster management. Specialized Courses are offered to those who have completed the Basic Course or are having specialized qualifications or work experiences on subjects related to the Course themes.
Language: English
Fees: Rs. 1500 for Basic and Rs. 1000 for Specialized Courses
Applications: Application can be made on plain paper stating name of the course, name of applicant, age, qualifications, experience, occupation, email id, telephone and postal address along with course fees in bank draft favouring Executive Director, NIDM payable at New Delhi. Applications shall be addressed to Executive Director, National Institute of Disaster Management, IIPA Campus, IP Estate, Ring Road, New Delhi – 110 002 so as to reach atleast 15 days in advance from the date of commencement of the course.
